Expert assessment

Broker's take on the Pursuit OS 355

The OS 355 is one of the more complete packages in the 35 to 38 foot offshore center console class. The cabin is the reason most buyers pick it: a convertible queen forward berth, a mid berth, a galley with a cooktop and microwave, a separate shower and 16,000 BTU air conditioning make real overnight trips practical. Few boats with this much cabin keep a fishing cockpit this usable, with a livewell and two 45 gallon fish boxes.

The tradeoff is weight. At more than 18,000 lb dry it needs serious power, and fuel economy sits near 1 mpg at cruise. Triple engines also mean three sets of service costs. For a buyer who runs offshore regularly and spends nights aboard, the OS 355 is a strong, well equipped choice that has held value well in PYM sales data.

Who this boat fits

  • Offshore anglers who also want to spend nights aboard
  • Families that want a center console with air conditioning and a proper head
  • Owners moving up from a 30 to 33 foot center console
  • Buyers who value strong resale and a large used market

Who should look elsewhere

  • Buyers who want the lowest running costs in this size
  • Owners who need to trailer their boat
  • Cruisers who rarely fish and want more lounge seating, who may prefer the DC 365
  • Anyone with a tight bridge clearance under 10 ft on their home waterway

Strengths

  • Real overnight cabin with air conditioning, galley, separate shower and generator
  • Offshore ready hull with a 20 degree deadrise and 12 ft beam
  • Strong performance: 56.5 mph top speed and about 30 mph cruise at 1 mpg in Pursuit testing with triple F350s
  • Usable fishing cockpit with livewell and two 45 gallon fish boxes
  • Healthy resale market with many boats and recorded sales to compare

Tradeoffs

  • Heavy for its length at 18,103 lb dry, which raises fuel burn
  • Triple engine boats carry three sets of maintenance costs
  • 9 ft 9 in hardtop clearance can rule out some bridges and covered storage
  • Too large and heavy for most owners to trailer
  • Cabin space reduces open deck area compared with a pure fishing center console

Production history

Pursuit Boats builds the Offshore series in Fort Pierce, Florida. PYM sales records for the OS 355 cover model years from 2016 through 2026, and live listings run from 2017 to 2025, so a wide spread of years is available.

Engine packages have changed over that period. Earlier boats on PYM most often carry triple Yamaha F300s, a number carry twin Yamaha 425 XTOs, and newer boats carry triple F350s. The current manufacturer page lists three Yamaha packages with twin or triple power.

Model-year guidance

  • Older boats (about 2016 to 2019): the value end of the market. PYM sales in these years closed at medians from $235,000 to $382,500. Engine hours, electronics age and generator service records matter most here.
  • Middle years (about 2020 to 2022): sales medians from $400,000 to $450,000. Many have triple F300 power and newer electronics.
  • Recent boats (2023 and newer): sales medians from $517,500 for 2023 boats up to about $672,000 for 2026 boats. Expect the current triple F350 package, joystick control and remaining warranty coverage.

Confirm the exact engine package on any boat. Twin and triple boats from the same year can differ meaningfully in price, speed and running costs.

Ownership

Ownership costs & practices

Plan for engine service on two or three outboards, generator service on the Fischer Panda diesel unit and routine care of the air conditioning, head and freshwater systems. Fuel is the largest running cost. In Pursuit's test the boat burned 30.1 gallons per hour at a 30.2 mph cruise and 92.7 gallons per hour at wide open throttle. Most owners keep the boat in a wet slip or a large rack facility.

Areas buyers should inspect carefully

  • Full engine survey on every outboard, including compression, lower units and hours
  • Generator hours and service history
  • Hull and transom by a qualified marine surveyor, including moisture readings
  • Electronics, Helm Master EX or joystick function and Siren Marine monitoring
  • Air conditioning, refrigerator, head and shower systems
  • Hardtop, windshield and canvas condition
  • Sea trial at cruise and top speed, compared with Pursuit's published numbers

Buying practices

  • Compare several boats of similar year and engine package before making an offer
  • Use PYM recorded sales, not asking prices alone, to set a fair offer
  • Make any offer subject to survey and sea trial
  • Check the remaining manufacturer and engine warranty and whether it transfers
  • Review service records for engines, generator and air conditioning
